Monarch offers mental health services in Nash and Wilson counties

Agency recently assumed services previously provided by ResCare

Wilson sign photo -door-webMonarch recently expanded its mental health services to Nash and Wilson counties. The agency provides support statewide to thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance abuse disorders.

Based in Albemarle, Monarch was asked by the Eastpointe Managed Care Organization (MCO) to provide individual outpatient therapy, psychiatric assessment and medication management services. Eastpointe MCO is the entity that funds and oversees developmental disability and mental health services in these counties.

To best serve people waiting for appointments, Monarch provides Open Access for First Assessment that allows individuals who need services to simply walk in for the first time without an appointment. The goal is to help people by providing a comprehensive clinical assessment, a treatment plan, a psychiatric evaluation, with prescriptions if needed, and a referral to the proper level of care.

“We are extremely excited and grateful Monarch was selected to provide an expansion of services in these two counties,” said Dr. Peggy Terhune, Monarch’s chief executive officer. “The opportunity to assume these services allows Monarch to fulfill its mission to offer more quality programs, expand our service continuum and provide more access to care for the people we support. I look forward with confidence as we continue our commitment to support people living with mental illness, substance abuse and developmental disabilities needs.”

Monarch was chosen to assume services from ResCare, Inc. Jamie Garrett, business operations director, will oversee Monarch’s mental health services and operations in Nash and Wilson counties. Terhune and Garrett said people who received services from ResCare, Inc. will not see any immediate, noticeable changes, including no changes in office locations.

The Rocky Mount and Wilson offices will remain in the following locations, where ResCare offered services:
