Monarch book club welcomes Author Ken Capps

forgiving-watersNext Chapter Book Club in New Bern hosts author of "Forgiving Waters" Jan. 7

Author of the novel “Forgiving Waters,” Kenneth Capps will be guest speaker during Monarch’s Next Chapter Book Club in New Bern during their Monday, Jan. 7 meeting at  4 p.m. at the Books-A-Million, 3005 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., New Bern. The event is free and open to the public.

Capps will discuss his book, which was set in Texas during a time that racial division was both expected and tolerated. A young key character in the book, Beauregard Lee Kelso learns at an early age some painful truths about the breaking and mending of souls. Now decades later at the age of 83, the old cowboy struggles with decisions of his past that won’t allow him peace of mind.

Erma Brault, site supervisor at Monarch’s Health Drive Day Program in New Bern who facilitates the book club, extended the invitation to Capps to offer book club readers and guests the opportunity to interact with the author and to ask questions about his book.
