Mission Accomplished: Monarch fulfills Mike's dream to be on the radio
Michael Shannon, attends the Monarch Beach Club in Manteo. To say Mike has an interesting life is putting it mildly. He has been in the Knights of Columbus for many years, belongs to a stamp club, sails and has traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world.
Although Mike's list of experiences and accomplishments is quite extensive, he still has lots of things on his “bucket list." Among those goals was a desire to be on the radio. Well you know how we are here at Monarch, we hear about a dream and we do our best to make it come true. In Mike's case that happened on Tuesday, Sept. 11. On that sunny afternoon, looking over the sound in the glorious Outer Banks, Mike did a fantastic interview with radio superstar Lisa Brickhouse 99.1 WVOD.
Mike and Lisa discussed information about the local Special Olympics from a personal and community perspective. He was on the air to promote the Special Olympics Day Celebration that was held on Sept. 12, the following day to thank local sponsors, volunteers, coaches and acknowledging our fabulous athletes. Way to go Mike! We are so proud of you! And by the way, you also did great boogying to the beats with Lisa when you forgot I was looking.
