Monarch Spotlight: Emily Fullmer and Yesenia Mueller – Community Liaisons

Monarch Spotlight l rEmily Yesenia1Emily Fullmer, senior community liaison; and Yesenia Mueller, community liaison, spend a lot of time traveling statewide sharing information about Monarch to cultivate meaningful relationships, increase referrals and raise awareness about our programs and services.  In their own words, Fullmer and Mueller share more about what they do and why.

What does a typical workday look like?
It involves making courtesy visits to physicians, providers, hospitals, schools, government officials and any other referral sources across the state to market new services and programs and provide continued customer service. We are also often found attending key community meetings and events to aid in collaboration of services for the people we support.

What is the most important aspect of your role and why?
It’s acting as a liaison between Monarch and the community by developing and maintaining quality relationships with referral sources and providing continued support in any way possible. This is important to ensure excellent service to the people we support through a focus on integration of care.

What has been your most rewarding or proudest moment during your tenure at Monarch?
EF: I have had a referral coordinator hug me and thank me for our services. She even told me she would have had nowhere to send her patient if I hadn’t walked through the door that day.

YM:  I am so proud to hear constant praise of Monarch and the value of the support that we provide to people in the community. It is refreshing to work for an organization whose care for others emanates in our employees daily.

What do you do when you aren’t working?
EF: I am mom to a super awesome little boy, Lucas, and my husband and I enjoy going on outdoor adventures with him, hikes with our dog, Lucy, and traveling to the beach whenever possible. I also enjoy reading, running and spending time with our “cul-de-sac crew.”
YM: I really enjoy trying different foods and restaurants with my friends, as well as cheering for Charlotte’s sports teams at every opportunity. Yoga, a good book and being outdoors with my puppy help keep me balanced and happy. I also enjoy volunteering in my church nursery regularly.

What movie or song best describes you?
EF: “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, no explanation needed.
YM: “Dancing in the Moonlight,” Toploader version.
