Hoke Street Residents Attend the North Carolina Civitan’s Annual Convention

Joanne Civitan conferenceHoke Street residents Joanne Vincent and Kathi Whitfield recently took a trip from their home in New Bern to Carolina Beach to attend the Civitan Club’s annual convention. Civitan International is an organization of volunteer service clubs around the world, dedicated to helping people in their own communities.

Vincent, who is the president of the We Can Civitan’s Club in New Bern, attended business meetings, awards banquets and socials during the conference.

She was also a voting delegate and helped elect the new North Carolina East District Civitan officers and board members. She met Civitans from all over the central and eastern parts of North Carolina and talked about ideas for service projects and fundraisers.

“I had a wonderful time, enjoyed the dancing, food and friends. It was an awesome weekend,” Vincent said.

Civitan Clubs have a mission to make the world a better place, and after attending the convention Vincent is excited about doing that with her own club in New Bern as they carry out service projects in the community.
