Monarch Joins #GivingTuesday Initiative for Smart Home Technology
Kick off your holiday season by giving back. This year you can once again join Monarch for #GivingTuesday, a movement that inspires personal philanthropy and charitable giving during the holiday season.
Occurring this year on Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities.
This year Monarch’s goal is to raise $1,000 towards our smart home technology initiative. Many people take simple daily tasks like turning lights on and off or remembering to take medication for granted, but for people with disabilities these routine duties can be difficult.
With the help of generous donations during #GivingTuesday, Monarch will be able to fund important new technology initiatives for people with disabilities to enable them to live more independently in residential settings.
Funding will go towards motion-sensor kitchen and bathroom faucets and temperature-regulated shower faucets to provide for easier, safer washing and self-care, as well as motion sensor lights, automated medication dispensers and home sensors to notify staff and caregivers should someone fall, leave the premises, or experience an emergency.
“Technology empowers people and gives a new sense of independence and confidence,” explained Blake Martin, chief development officer at Monarch. “Our goal is to provide the people we support with the most current technology to enhance their lives as well as to improve our ability to provide services and treatment.
