N&N: Lee PSR Gives Back to the Community
This holiday season Monarch’s Lee County Psychosocial Rehabilitation program in Sanford adopted two families from their community and collected Christmas gifts for them.
Michelle Ibrahim, program manager, said the PSR is located in an area where there are many in need. Because of this those at the PSR decided they wanted to do more for their community, and together they partnered with The Family of Love, a group hat meets at the PSR bi-monthly, to do just that.
Lee PSR participants bought slippers, tools, toys and clothing for the two families and arranged for the parents to secretly pick them up during the PSR’s Christmas party so that they would have them on Christmas morning.
Ibrahim said the people we support “were excited and happy to see the families appreciate what they did. They felt accomplished and proud.”
"It was a good idea to give to families in need that might not have had a Christmas if not for us, which feels great," said Janice Rutherford, a person supported at the Lee PSR.
