World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is observed on Oct. 10 every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.
The day is observed during the National Alliance on Mental Health’s (NAMI) Mental Illness Awareness Week, Oct. 5-11, and provides an opportunity for discussions on mental health issues, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
The theme for World Mental Health Day 2014 is “Living with schizophrenia” and the focus is how to live a healthy life with schizophrenia.
