News & Notes: MERAC Award Winners

6--MERAC-winnersIn 2010, Leonard Covington joined the Monarch team as the human resources director. As he settled into his role he soon noticed that Monarch did not have a formal way of recognizing exceptional employees for their hard work.

So he created a plan, formed a proposal and took it to the executive team for evaluation. They quickly approved his idea for what has come to be known as the Monarch Employee Recognition and Appreciation Committee (MERAC).

The committee is made up of people nominated from their region and appointed to serve two-year terms by CEO Dr. Peggy Terhune. The committee meets each quarter to review exceptional staff member nominations submitted from each region and they vote on the winners. Each winner is notified by their supervisor and awarded a plaque known as “The Dream Maker Award” during various ceremonies and events that are hosted across the state.

The following employees are the latest to receive the coveted Dream Maker Award for this past quarter:

Jennifer Lutz - Mecklenburg ACTT – Region 1-A
Beverly Lee - Second Street Group Home – Region 3
