Celebrating Direct Support Professionals
Sept. 7-13 is DSP Recognition Week
To honor the direct support workforce and the tremendous difference they make each day in the lives of millions of Americans with disabilities, The U.S. Senate has designated the week beginning Sept. 7, 2014 as Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week.
Across the country, direct support professionals (DSPs) maintain trusted relationships with millions of people with disabilities supported each day. Monarch recognizes the people we support are more likely to succeed when experienced, motivated staff members provides stable and compatible support.
“The successes of many of the people Monarch supports come from our talented and caring direct support staff,” said Dr. Peggy Terhune, Monarch CEO. “These key staff members are important to the agency’s success and we are very proud of the work and sacrifices they make every day.”
Direct support professionals enable people with disabilities to live in their own communities by assisting them with their daily affairs and intimate needs: medications, meals, dressing, mobility, vocational training, respite care and other in-home services.
As recognition week is observed, please take some time to demonstrate how much you appreciate our direct support team members and the tremendous differences they make in people’s and families’ lives.
