N&N: #GivingTuesday Update
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Monarch, along with 10,000 organizations in all 50 states, took part in a global movement that encouraged people to do something different: give, rather than spend.
Harnessing the collective power of charities, families, and individuals, while using new tools and technologies, #GivingTuesday showcased creativity and collaboration between the non-profit and philanthropic sectors. According to Blackbaud, a service provider for nonprofits, online giving during #GivingTuesday 2013 was up 90 percent, compared to last year.
“We want to thank all of Monarch’s donors for making the first gift of the season a gift to our cause,” said Blake Martin, chief development officer. “In our first year as a local #GivingTuesday charity Monarch is grateful for your support, and is proud to have been a part of this national day of giving when families, business, schools and churches were encouraged to give back and support local charitable organizations.”
Martin also noted that #GivingTuesday was a great way to bring awareness for the services that Monarch offers across North Carolina.
“We felt it was critical to join the movement that was started to give people a place to give back during the holiday season,” Martin said.
Even though #GivingTuesday is over, it is still possible to give to Monarch’s giving page on the agency web site here.
