linn bernhardtQ: How long have you worked at Monarch?
A: Since July 22, 2013. I heard about the company from family and friends.

Q: What is your title?
A: Risk Manager

Q: What does a typical workday look like?
A: I deal with employee accidents, and Monarch’s insurance agents and carriers. I also perform safety inspections of Monarch facilities.

Q: What is the most important aspect of your role as a safety manager?
A: To protect Monarch and Monarch employees. Minimizing the risks associated with injuries and damage to property can have a huge effect on Monarch’s financial stability.

Q: What has been your most rewarding or satisfying experience, or your proudest moment while working here?
A: It’s happened a number of times, but simply bringing a smile to the face of a person we support.

Q: What might someone be surprised to know about you?
A: I used to be very skinny!


Q: How would your family describe you?
A: Loyal.

Q: What do you do when you aren't working?
A: Travel, sports and reading.


Q: Favorite place to visit?
A: The Coast- I like the North Carolina Outer Banks because it’s so wild and different.

Q: Movie or song that best describes you?
A: “Contact” is my favorite movie. It doesn’t describe me, but the search for extra-terrestrial life is very interesting to me.

Q: Favorite book?
A: “3001 – The Final Odyssey” by Arthur C. Clarke.
