Monarch Joins National Movement #GivingTuesday to Encourage Spending with a Purpose
There is a day for giving thanks. There are two days for getting deals from retailers. This year join Monarch and others to help create #GivingTuesday—a new day for giving back.
Monarch has partnered with a national movement known as #GivingTuesday to transform how people talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday, and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season with Black Friday, the goal of #GivingTuesday is to create a movement around giving, rather than shopping.
Culminating on December 3, 2013, #GivingTuesday will use social media to create a national movement by allowing people to find their favorite charities and organizations and effectively give back to them all through one website. The movement is also meant to give people the tools they need to improve their local communities, and to give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support.
“Monarch is proud to join this national day of giving when families, businesses, schools and churches are encouraged to give back and support local charitable organizations,” said Blake Martin, chief development officer at Monarch. “During the rush of the holiday season we want to give people an easy and convenient opportunity to support Monarch. We are grateful for our current donors who have chosen to support us and provide us with the resources to continue helping people with disabilities throughout the state.”
Currently, more than 5,000 corporate and non-profit organizations have committed to participate in the initiative.
“#GivingTuesday brings together thousands of organizations to celebrate the incredible services they provide and we felt it was critical to join the movement that offers people a place to give back during the holiday season, Martin said. “This focus on a national day of giving to support non-profits is also an excellent way to bring awareness to the services Monarch offers in North Carolina.”
