Longtime SOC employee looks forward to retiring
After years of working, 62-year-old Harold Mitchell, a resident of Monarch's Walnut Cove Apartments, has finally decided to retire. Mitchell, who has been supported by Monarch for decades, was a longtime intermittent employee at Monarch’s Stokes Opportunity Center (SOC), has worked in the cafeteria at West Stokes High School and at the local public library, is looking forward to more downtime and gardening.
Mitchell, who has been a resident at Walnut Cove Apartments since 1994, has worked all sorts of production, odd jobs and whatever was needed while employed at SOC, said Sharon Stacy, operations manager at Walnut Cove Apartments. Currently, Stacy said Mitchell is taking it easy and has started preparing his garden for the season. He regularly grows tomatoes and flowers in the garden he planted adjacent to the entrance at the apartment complex
