Jackie McGowen 'dances with the stars'

Jackie-Mike.jpgJackie McGowen, executive assistant, was among 12 people invited to participate in Stanly County’s Dancing with the Stars earlier this month. The dance-off fundraiser was held to benefit the Butterfly House in Albemarle, a child advocacy center that helps children, and their families, who are exposed to physical and sexual abuse. A local take on ABC’s popular TV series “Dancing with the Stars,” Jackie and others were paired with professional dance instructors and worked on challenging choreographed numbers for weeks. Jackie and her partner – Mike Stowers, a professional ballroom instructor from Charlotte, performed a fantastic Rumba. According to Monarch supporters who attended the event, Jackie danced like a pro! Alone, Jackie raised more than $1,600 and the event proceeds totaled approximately $60,000.
