Celebrating Direct Support Professionals
North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue proclaimed the week of September 9-15, 2012 as National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week. Across the agency, Monarch direct support staff members were honored in various ways to demonstrate appreciation for the great jobs they do every day.
Direct Support Professionals maintain trusted relationships with millions of people with disabilities they support each day. These professionals enable people with developmental disabilities to live in their own communities by assisting them with their daily affairs and intimate needs.
"These key staff members are vital to the agency’s success and we are very proud of the work and sacrifices they make each and every day," said Jim Kelley, Monarch's chief operating officer.
Managers from across the region held cake and ice cream socials, hosted meals, presented gifts as well as certificates of appreciation to recognize staff. See some of those stories below.
