Who Can Volunteer?
Monarch has volunteer opportunities across North Carolina for individuals and groups who are interested in sharing their talents. Are you a skilled artist or like to dabble in arts and crafts? Are you a musician or someone who likes to have fun with a kazoo and create your own special sounds? Whether you like to work with seniors or prefer working with younger ages; are a gardener willing to share your expertise or like to create culinary delights in the kitchen; play games and teach sports or prefer teaching computer skills. We would love to have you join us.
Can Groups Volunteer?
We welcome groups of friends, professional colleagues, or civic organization members to volunteer with us. If you are looking for a one-time opportunity for your group to volunteer together for a fun team-building and community service experience, we would be happy to talk with you more.
How Do I Get Started?
Volunteers are matched with Monarch sites based on availability, location and your preference for volunteer service. Prior experience is not required to be considered for a volunteer position. In fact, volunteering is a great way to learn a new skill. When we place prospective volunteers, their availability and interests are more important to us than experience.
All volunteers complete required paperwork and background checks prior to placement and receive appropriate training based on type of service provided.

"I had a great time working with our friends at Monarch. It is hard to describe the effect it had on me, other than being some of the most self-fulfilling volunteer work I have ever done. I got to improve something that THEY [the people supported] care about, and work on a project location where they spend so much of their time throughout their average day. I felt like we got to make a small impact in their lives, with something tangible that they can see every day. I can not tell you how I grateful I am to have been a part of it!"
- Caleb Alexander, a BB&T Banking Officer and Monarch volunteer
