What does Monarch do?

Monarch provides services and supports to people of all ages who have a developmental or intellectual disability, mental illness, and/or substance abuse issues. Our goal is to help people live valued lives of their own choosing, and to become as independent as possible.

What ages of people are supported by Monarch?

Monarch provides supports and services to children and adults, birth through death.
How do I choose Monarch as my provider of services and supports?

Who do I contact to access services in my local area?

Services for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and substance abuse issues are managed by Local Management Entities (LME’s) The LME’s contract with different providers such as Monarch in order to provide the services that are needed in their counties. Where does Monarch provide services?

Monarch provides services in many counties, and the service varies from county to county. Click here to see which counties we offer services and supports in and/or contact (866) 272-7826 in order to see if services through Monarch are available in your area.

How many people are supported by or receive services from Monarch?

This number varies as many people we provide services to only need to work with us for a short period of time. In 2007, the agency provided support to approximately 3,000 citizens across North Carolina.

Are you a state agency?

No. Although we receive funding from the state, we are incorporated as a private 501c3 organization, and are governed by a voluntary board of directors.

What do I do if I have a complaint or a compliment?

At Monarch, we want to hear from people we serve, family members and community members. Your recommendations and concerns are very important to us and we offer a variety of ways you may let us hear from you.

At any time you have a suggestion or concern, please contact your support staff, the service manager, the Qualified Professional or the Regional Director. These employees are familiar with your services and can help you in a variety of ways. Your support team will work with you to make the changes you need.

If you do not receive an acceptable response from your support team, or would prefer to contact someone in administration you may:

Contact our toll free suggestion/concern line at (800) 342-1598. This phone line is monitored daily by the quality management department and someone will contact you. If you are not comfortable leaving your name and number feel free to leave your suggestion/concern anonymously and we will follow up.

Use our web based concern form. Once this form is submitted it will be sent to a member of the quality management department. If you choose to add your name and contact number someone will contact you.

We strive hard to meet all requests and follow up on all concerns to your satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive please let us know. You may contact any member of the agency's Executive Management Team by calling (704) 986-1500 or (800) 230-7525.

Is Monarch a chapter of The Arc?

Yes.

Is Monarch managed or owned by The Arc of the United States or The Arc of North Carolina?

No. Every chapter of The Arc is a separate private non profit organization governed by a voluntary board of directors. Monarch is a member of both The Arc of the United States and The Arc of North Carolina, which means that we adhere to the values of those organizations and are entitled to use the name, The Arc.
