Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of community members, family members, and people we support who volunteer their time to govern the organization. Board members meet monthly in board meetings, as well as contribute time on committees and special events, giving unselfishly of their time, talents, and personal funds.

Jeff Gaskin has spent more than three decades in the financial services industry providing financial planning and portfolio management for his clients, as well as dedicating time to serve his community.
A native of Albemarle, Jeff is married to the love of his life, Marie, also an Albemarle native. They have three adult children – son Brian; daughters Melanie and Allison; son-in-laws Alan and Kevin; and one granddaughter.
Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Cornell University. His investment career started in Charlotte in 1980 where they lived for fourteen years. In 1994, the Gaskin family moved to Alabama to live near Brian while he attended the Helen Keller School at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIBD) in Talladega, Ala. Business took the family to New York and New Jersey, and now they are back in Charlotte.
A member of the Monarch Board of Directors since 2012, Jeff accepted the duty as its chairperson in October 2014. Possessing a heart to help others, he has had the privilege of serving other organizations in numerous capacities, including the Charlotte Symphony Board as annual fund chairman, North Carolina Harvest as co-founder of the annual “Chef’s Best Dinner,” faith-based mission trips to Bolivia and Russia, and the AIBD Foundation Board for 20 years - and served 10 years as president of that board.
Jeff explained he was initially motivated to serve and support Monarch because of his son, Brian, who was born without sight or hearing, and now lives in a Monarch home. Shortly after joining the board, Jeff said he “began to learn about the thousands of individuals across North Carolina who benefit from the multitude of services provided by hundreds of committed professionals employed by Monarch.” Monarch has become a passion and a mission for him and his family.
“When I begin work each day, this message is the first thing I see as my computer comes to life,”
Jeff shared. “‘Remember that Brian Gaskin, the son that God provided to Marie and me, lives in a world of total darkness and total silence … and enjoys life without focusing on the world. I must realize that the senses I have, and skills and talents bestowed on me by my creator, are nothing that I deserve … and are nothing that I have earned. I am blessed with these, and must unselfishly use them to make a positive difference in the lives of people I encounter.’”
