Monarch Awarded $50K in Software Grant

Albemarle, NC- Monarch was recently awarded $50,000 by the Cannon Foundation for software to eliminate its inefficient, paper based medial record system and antiquated billing system and move to a comprehensive, Electronic Medial Record (EMR) with an integrated billing software solution.

MONARCH CONDEMNS “TROPIC THUNDER”

Albemarle, NC – Monarch announced a local campaign to address the portrayal of an individual with an intellectual disability in the movie “Tropic Thunder” which opened nationwide this week. Monarch joins the efforts of The Arc of the United States and other national advocacy groups mobilizing around the use of hate-speech in referring to persons with intellectual disabilities. “Tropic Thunder” features Ben Stiller portraying “Simple Jack,” a person with an intellectual disability; this character is repeatedly referred to as a “retard,” “moron,” and “imbecile.”

Arc of Stanly: 50 Years and Still Going Strong

Albemarle, NC- In 1958 six parents gathered in a friend’s living room for a common cause-their dream of an education for their children. These people were the parents of children with developmental disabilities. An education in the public school system was not an option but these parents pressed on 50 years later, The Arc is now celebrating their golden anniversary.

New Bern, NC- Monarch, formerly Arc Services, Inc. has been providing services in eastern North Carolina since 2004 serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental illness. Monarch Garners National Attention with Publicatio

Monarch, formerly Arc Services, Inc. has been nationally recognized with a publication in the College of Direct Support Partner Profiles. Regional Director, Melissa Hall’s article titled “North Carolina’s Monarch and CDS Working together on the Mission of ‘Helping Dreams Take Flight’” was published in the newsletter in May and has already begun to raise awareness of the need for quality trained professionals to work with people with developmental disabilities.
