I love my job because you get respect, love and honor. The people we support give you respect as long as you respect them. They honor you because you let them know they are first and are important to you. Last they have so much love to give and as long as you are on the recieving end and except them for who they are they will love you.

When I first started with Monarch, I started because I needed a summer job; I was sure I wouldn't like working with "those people" because I had heard so many awful things about what goes on in the group/nursing homes. My first day was a true eye opener! I saw that they are just like everyone else, better than most honestly. Working for Monarch gives me a sense of accomplishment. I always leave work knowing I made a difference in someone's life. The people I support are always glad to see me, they always want to know about me, and their smiles light up the room. And they try so hard! People say that the people we support at Monarch are different, special, strange.... Yes, they are different... they don't spent time worrying about the nonsense we do. Yes, they are special.... they genuinely CARE about you, and love you unconditionally; they know that you don't have to be there and appreciate that you are. Yes, they are strange....they FIGHT for what they want because they know it isn't going to come easy. If you ask me instead of trying to make them "normal" we should try to be more like them. I did and it made me a better person!!! So I thank the people I support, because we enriched each other while learning and growing together!!!

I love my job and am proud of my job. I appreciate the many opportunities Monarch provides like continuing education in my field. I truly enjoy helping people become more independent and strongly believe in treating all people with dignity and respect. The people we support deserve, like everyone, to be treated as such. My work is rewarding when I can help make someone’s life easier, more successful and meaningful. Some of the people we support need just a little more help getting out into the community to work or shop. We support inclusion NOT exclusion. We also need to remind some of the public about equal rights. The people that we provide services for have the same rights as everyone regardless of what disability they may face. Monarch teaches this and more. I am proud to be a Monarch employee.

Having worked for Monarch for over four years has given me tremendous insight and perspective into this field. I have grown exponentially both personally and professionally. Monarch is a very caring, person-centered (those supported as well as its employees) company that I am proud to work for and tell others about. It is not a "job"; it is not a mundane position. This is an exciting and interesting career. People with potential and determination are recognized and valued. They do not get lost in a sea of others; each person stands out brightly for who they are and what they bring with them to Monarch.
